Ship your Mac app.
Skip the release chores.
Upload a signed app. ReleaseKit builds the disk image, hosts it, and keeps your Sparkle feed up to date.
14 days free on every plan. Cancel anytime.
How it works
From Xcode to your users in three steps.
No servers to run, no scripts to keep alive. Your app keeps using Sparkle, the update framework you already know.
Upload your app
Archive and notarize in Xcode, zip the app, and drop it on ReleaseKit.
ReleaseKit does the rest
It checks the build and its code signature, signs the update with your Sparkle key, and makes the disk image and delta updates.
Publish
One click updates your appcast. Your users see the new version in their app, with your release notes.
Already on Sparkle?
Move your app in minutes.
Bring it over with its whole history. The copies your users already have keep updating, without a new build.
-
Step 1
Check
Give ReleaseKit your appcast's address. It reads every version and checks the signatures against your key.
-
Step 2
Import
Every version is copied with its release notes and dates, and signed with your own Sparkle key.
-
Step 3
Switch
Point your appcast's address at ReleaseKit with one DNS record, or ship one last update with the new address.
-
Done
Your users keep updating
From ReleaseKit, with disk images and delta updates, as if nothing had changed.
Everything an update needs
Built for Sparkle, from end to end.
The parts of shipping a Mac app that nobody wants to maintain, done right and kept that way.
Delta updates
Users on a recent version download only what changed, often a tenth of the full app. ReleaseKit makes Sparkle's patches for you and checks each one before it ships; if one can't be used, Sparkle falls back to the full update. On the Indie and Studio plans.
Your key, your app
Every update is signed with your app's own Sparkle key. Download it any time.
Disk images
Every release gets a DMG, built for you from the app you uploaded.
Assets
Ready-to-paste links for your website: your latest disk image, which follows each new release by itself, and your app's history page.
Your own domain
Serve your appcast from updates.yourapp.com, with HTTPS taken care of.
Checked before it ships
A build with the wrong Sparkle key, a broken code signature or a reused build number is stopped before your users see it.
Release notes that look right
Write them in Markdown, preview them, edit them after publishing. They show in Sparkle's update window and on your app's history page.
Fast, fair builds
Disk images and patches are built on dedicated cores, shared fairly so nobody waits behind someone else.
Served by Cloudflare R2
Your appcasts and downloads live on Cloudflare R2 and are served straight from Cloudflare's global network, with its uptime. They don't depend on ReleaseKit's own servers: even if our website is down, your users keep getting updates.

FAQ
Good to know.
Do my users need a new version to move to ReleaseKit?
No. ReleaseKit copies every version from your current appcast, then takes over its address, so the copies your users have keep updating as before.
How does the free trial work?
Choose a plan when you sign up: the first 14 days are free, with everything the plan includes. You are charged when the trial ends, unless you cancel before. You can cancel anytime from your account, and an email confirms it.
What happens if my plan ends?
Your appcasts and downloads keep working for 90 days, so your users keep getting updates. You just can't upload or publish until you choose a plan again.
What if ReleaseKit is down?
Your users keep updating. Appcasts and downloads are stored apart from ReleaseKit's servers, on Cloudflare R2, and served by Cloudflare directly; only uploading and publishing wait for ReleaseKit to be back.
Can I leave?
Yes. Your Sparkle key and every archive can be downloaded at any time, so you can host your updates anywhere else.
Which versions of Sparkle work?
Sparkle 2, with EdDSA signatures. Delta updates need Sparkle 2.1 or later on your users' Macs; older copies simply get the full update.
Do you charge per download?
Never. Plans are priced per app and storage, whatever your number of users.
